Top 10 upsets of the college football season

Thanks to a comment by James, I figured I'd do another list this week. The top 10 upsets in a very unpredictable season of college football. There were many to pick from, and I attempted to not pick too many SEC games.

10: South Florida over Auburn: My brother Thomas was able to go to this game. Auburn was still undefeated and not many people knew about South Florida. This game set the tone for Auburn, who would be upset again by MSU, and South Florida, who would go to #2 in the BCS before feeling the pressure.

9: Arizona over Oregon: I know they were able to win the game because of Dixon's ACL, but Oregon was a front-runner for the BCS with a heisman candidate. Another #2 getting knocked off, and it was in prime time. Doesn't hurt that I am an Arizona fan (having lived in Tucson).

8: Georgia over Florida: As a Gator fan I hate to put this in here, but UGA beating Florida for the first time in a million years and putting Tennessee in the SEC championship game and Georgia in a BCS was a huge game. Georgia (a team that got beat twice early in the year) played an outstanding game, and it didn't hurt that Tebow was not 100%.

7: Colorado over Oklahoma: This was another BCS team that fell on its face against an unranked team. Colorado is an improved team, but if they played this game 10 more times, Oklahoma wins them all.

6: ULM over Alabama: Although Alabama is not a great team, they were looking at a potential 8-4 season and a good bowl before losing at HOME to a team that is a mid-level team in a terrible conference.

5: Kentucky over LSU: Knocking LSU from the unbeatens. Great game as well. Kentucky was a solid team, but still should not have been able to beat LSU.

4: FSU over Boston College: Matt Ryan had just beat Virginia Tech and become a heisman candidate. Now FSU rolls in to Boston College and takes this team out of the BCS picture. They also effectively end Ryan's chances.

3: South Florida over West Virginia: Another great upset by the Bull of South Florida. This made them the team to beat and almost knocked out West Virginia. My prediction is this is the only loss of West Virginia this season.

2: Stanford over USC: This would have been one of the biggest upsets of the decade if not for number one...

1: App. State over Michigan: By far the biggest upset of all-time. A team that had no business on the field with Michigan getting the win. A blocked field goal, a last minute drive to take back the lead. I would say Michigan did not even play that bad at the end. App. State won the game, Michigan did not choke it away.

Top Ten worst chinese fortune cookie sayings

I figured I need a new list so the other day Jamey and I and Avery ate at the Chinese buffet, which is very good and it got me to thinking of a new list. This is my top ten worst fortunes you could pull out of the cookie.

Top 10: Worst American Idols to get to top group

This is my list of the worst American Idols that made it to the top group. These are the idols that I cheered to be voted off the show.

10. EJay Day: First Idol to be voted off in season one.
Where is he now: A Cruise ship for Princess

9. Matthew Rogers: The big guy who sang a sappy song and got the boot. Not a great singer. I wanted to like him, but couldn't.
Where is he now: A corespondant for several sports shows

8. Bucky Covington: One that I thought was awful, but somehow kept getting voted through. I felt he couldn't have made it on the country reality show, but managed to get by simply because he was different.
Where is he now: Put out a new album "A different world"

7. Julie Demato: I thought she was snotty, and couldn't sing. Not a good combination for this show.
Where is she now: Tried to make it, but nothing took in music industry. Now she is a cosmetologist. Was also arrested for a DUI recently.

6. Kimberly Caldwell: Screamed every song she sang on the show. She got as far as she did on personality, because she was not a good singer.
Where is she now: She has made the most out of her fame. Trying to become a foxnews anchorwoman. Working for many shows on the TV Guide Channel.

5. Jon Peter Lewis: Probably a decent singer, I just couldn't stand him.
Where is he now: He has gone his own way in the music industry and had a Canadian hit "It's Christmas". His new album "Stories from Hollywood" is out now.

4. Kevin Covalis: "Chicken Little". Was the first to get farther from the website votefortheworst.com.
Where is he now: Finishing up high school as a senior this year.

3. Carmen Rasumusen: I liked her as a person. Very modest and well spoken, but we called her "goat girl" because of the vibratto in her voice. Randy hated her on the show, "dog".
Where is she now: On show Fear Factor last year. In a few comercials for local stores in Utah.

2. Mikalah Gordon: The Fran Drescher of the show. Her voice drove me nuts.
Where is she now: Cohosts American Idol Extra.

1. Sanjay: He will easily be at the top of this list by the end of the season. How many morons are there that will vote for someone, simply because he is so bad.

Top 10 Fast Food Places

I love to eat out. I love to eat unhealthy food (sorry Jason, Jon, Stacy, etc...). So here is my list of places to go when you are short on money.

These are my personal favorite places to eat that are fast food. I would put a place as "fast food" if...
1) I can eat there with Jamey for under $12
2) I can get out in under 30 minutes (most places in under 15)

Here are my favorites

10) Captain D's: I can only eat there once or twice a month, but when it is time I am craving it bad.

9) KFC: I love the boneless buffalo wings and strips from here. Great place to feed a family for not too much.

8) Quiznos: Favorite sandwich place to go. I love how they toast everything. They also have good clam chowder.

7) Checkers: I hate that Montgomery does not have one of these. Their seasoned fries are great as well as all their other food.

6) Wendys: I am a value orderer here and can get a lot of food for not too much. If you are healthy they even have salads and fruit and stuff...

5) Moe's: Not sure this is fast food. But it is a great place to eat. Jamey can get full of the kids burrito which is as big as the small adult one (and don't worry they know she is an adult ordering the meal so its not cheating).

4) Popeys: I have not eaten here in a long time. But I love their strips and red beans and rice.

3) Arby's: Quickly moving up the list. It has been the most frequented by me in the past few months. The 4 items for $5 is a great deal.

2) Burger King: I love the fries and Burgers here. I don't get to go that often, because Jamey got sick at one of these so she doesn't have as fond of memories as me.

1) Taco Bell: I love this place. I can order different every time and still be satisfied with my order.

Not quite on the list: McDonalds, Sonic, Chick-fil-a, Subway, What-a-burger

Not on the list: Hardees (too expensive), Subway, Long Johns Silver, Backyard Burger (too expensive), Tenda Chick (Montgomery special), Dairy Queen.

Bottom 10 Presidents

This is my look at the 10 worst presidents in our history. A couple of things to remember:
1) I did not include the sitting President: I personally would not include him anyway, but even if I was not in favor it is too early to make a judgement on an acting president.
2) This is my opinion: There may be (probably is) man on this list you disagree with, that is okay in the "comments" section feel free to tell me why.

Here we go:

10) George Bush (first): While he may have had some success in the Gulf War, he will be forever remembered for his "No New Taxes" speech that did not come true. Getting taken to the woodshed in this re-election by Clinton did not help either.

9) Clinton: I know many will be upset, but I am going strictly on morals, and the fact that he is only the second man ever to be impeached.

8) Carter: Peanut farmer from Georgia was not a great president. Not getting hostages released from Iran for over a year hurt his legacy, as they were only freed right before Reagan was coming in.

7) Pierce: Kansas-Nebraska Act really got him in hot water (as it should). Not even re-nominated by party in the next election.

6) Harrison: Dies after 1-month after giving longest Inauguration Speech ever in frigid temperatures. Who knows what would have happened if he would have lived.

5)Tyler: Former Vice President who is never elected to presidency struggled. Impeachment attempt on his office really hurts his legacy.

4) Harding: The “partying president”, actually gambled away part of white house China one time, Many friends given high positions that took government money. I cleaned up this statement by him "My *Goodness, this is a *heck of a job!" Harding said. "I have no trouble with my enemies, but my *darn friends, my *Dad-gummed friends... they're the ones that keep me walking the floor nights!" A man whose corrupt friends ruined his presidency.

3) Grant: Corrupt friends also hurt this former General. Smoked 20 cigars a day as well (that is just a sidenote, not why he made the list).

2) Nixon: Watergate. Enough said.

1) Johnson: Not elected to his post and not re-elected. Takes over for one of best presidents in a bad situation and makes it worse. The Radical republicans do not like how he is easy on the South and he barely escapes being thrown out of office by one vote.

Well that's my thoughts.

Top Multi-part movies

I am back. I am hoping to have my replacement laptop from the school tomorrow so I will be able to check on others blogs more often (And maybe do a little work also). I thought I'd come back with another list. This time a top multi-part movies. The movies have to have 3 parts or more. I made a top 15 of my choices.


15. Naked Gun: This series is a great spoof set. Leslie Neilson may be the best at this type of humor.


14. Karate Kid: Although the third in this trilogy was awful, the first two were very good movies. Jamey's high school crush was the star also :)


13. I know we haven't seen the third one, but if it anywhere near the first two this will move even further up the list. Great movies. Shrek will always be remembered.


12. Die Hard: I am a huge Bruce Willis fan and there are some of the first movies I saw him in. Great movies to watch if you want some action with little thought.


11. Lord of the Rings: If I had watched these movies they would be further up the list. I put them here based on others recommendations.


10. Lethal Weapon: Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are great characters and this set of movies is great. Another action series in my list...imagine that.


9. The Godfather: I have only seen two of these, and only once. But their impact is undeniable.


8. Mission Impossible: I loved the first one of this set. The other two were good movies as well, but not as good as the first. Tom Cruise does great in his role.


7. Teminator: I don't know which I like the best. T2 is great and is actually the first one I saw. The first one is classic as well. Jamey and I watched the last one on the big screen and enjoyed it, just not as much as the first two.

6. The Matrix: I have only seen the first two all the way through. I think I have seen part of the last one. They made the list because of how impressed I was with the first one.


5. James Bond: All of these films have been worth the watch. While I am still partial to Connery, I have enjoyed all the other "Bonds" out there.


4. Star Wars: Some will want it higher on the list. But I was not as into the movies as many were. Still, they are great films.


3. Indiana Jones: I love this series. I think it is the next one I want to own. Harrison Ford does a great job in this role. Still don't know which is my favorite.


2. Back to the Future: A great series of movies. I am into science fiction and love the time travel in the movie. Also love the comedy. Marty McFly will be one of my favorite characters.


1. Anyone that knows me well knew this was coming. It is what sparked this list in my head. I love the Rocky movies. Rocky 4 is my all-time favorite movie. Rocky 1 and 2 are next. I also liked the Rocky Balboa movie that just came out. Not much of a fan for 3 or 5.


Just off the list: National Lampoon's Vacations, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Alien, Home Alone, X-Men, Superman, Ocean's Eleven (they are in the works for a third part).

10. Lt. Pete "Maverick" Miller: Top Gun may be one of my favorite all-time movies. "I feel the need, the need for speed" every time I watch this movie. Maverick is the perfect character that is carefree until he has to watch "Goose" his partner die. From then it is about a man that will not quit (OK...so he quits and then they bring him back, whatever).

9. Rick Blaine: Casablanca is a classic movie. Blaine is a great hero.

8. Capt. John H. Miller: Tom Hanks makes it with the first of two of his top ten heroes. This is off Saving Private Ryan. The cast is great, but Hanks shines in his role.

7. Forrest Gump: The second Hanks character. Forrest is an endearing character that everyone cheers for (except that guy throwing rocks at him). The fact that it has so much history makes it a favorite of mine.

6. Batman: A favorite of mine, because he does not have super powers. All the gadgets he has are great as well.

5. T.E. Lawrence: I watched this movie with my grandfather when I was about 12. It was so long it had a 15 minute intermission. I still thought this guy was the coolest though.

4. Indiana Jones: A great character. I am contemplating buying the trilogy with my Christmas money. Harrison Ford makes him a funny/everyday kind of hero. With brains and a little brawn Indiana Jones is a great hero.

3. Rocky Balboa: My personal favorite. If I were being completely biased in this list he would be number 1. I love all the Rocky's (except 5, which is Jamey's favorite). I just bought the 5 DVD set and have seen the new one (which I will add when it comes out on DVD). The steps of Philadelphia are forever popular because of Rocky. Rocky 4 is my favorite as we watch the U.S.A. vs. USSR in the ring.

2. James Bond: An all-time favorite. I put the picture with Sean Connery because I think he was the best Bond. Many agree with that assessment. Either way this character has made it through the years and is my number 2...just barely behind...

1. Atticus Finch: A classic character. Jamey and her mother would have never let me live it down if he was not number one. With the younger students still reading the book he is likely to stay high for a long time.

10. Nurse Ratched: One flew over the Cukoo's Nest is a classic movie. And she is a major reason that Jack Nicholson's character went "cukoo". Scary in a way only a women can be. No yelling, just intimidation and manipulation by actions and looks.
Not that I know any women that do that.

9. The Wicked Witch of the West: Another classic and the highest ranking woman on the list. This green witch will forever be rememebered. "I'm melting..."

8. Terminator: Only character to make both lists. In the first terminator, which I think is almost as good as the more popular T2, Arnold is evil. He does a great job at it too.

7. Count Dracula: Another character that is in several different movies played by several men. The character remains a great villain.

6. Freddy Krueger: A nightmarish character. The picture above says enough for me.

5. Predator: A great villain. I now think of all the football players with their dreadlocks hanging out as a version of him.

4. Michael Corleon: The Godfather's are a great series of movies. He might be the ultimate villain on some lists. He makes mine as number 4.

3. Norman Bates: Psycho is a great movie. I have not even seen it, or at least all of it. Which may explain why he is not higher on the list.

2. Hannibal Lecter: Great villain. The series of movies he puts out are great. Although the first stands out as the best. Really, a man that will eat other people has to be a great villain. "Hello Clarice..."

1. Darth Vader: My number one villain for several reasons. I think he is known to all. His voice is great (every time someone even breaths hard you think of him). And above all he is the father to the hero of the movie.

19. Michael Myers: Halloween is one of the original scary movies. Myers is a great villain who many are probably still scared of.

18. Scrooge: Every Christmas most of us watch a movie with Scrooge in it. Even though he comes around in the end, he is a great villain.

17. Dr. Evil: A great villain. The Austin Powers movies would be nothing without this guy. Who else could make putting you pinky in your mouth funny. "Lasers", "One million dollars" and "release the globe" are some of my favorite quotes from him.





16. The Mask from Scream: A great villain. I know there were many that got behind the mask, but every time you see it you are reminded of these movies.





15. Booth: In the Line of fire is a classic movie. This villain does a great job of being evil in his quest to shoot the President.

14. Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker: Older movie. But the names are still known by many who haven't even seen the movie.

13. Amon Goeth: Schindler's list villain is a terrible person. Watching this movie is very moving and this character does a good job at being such an awful person.

12. The Queen from Snow White: Another Disney villain. Probably the most classic of them all.

11. Mr. Smith: The Matrix is a great series of movies. This villain is well known and has super powers. Has great lines in the movies as well. The seen where he has copied himself and like a million of him are attacking at once is classic.

Heroes 19-11

19. Terminator: A great movie. This is the Terminator in T2, the other might be on the villain list. So as Arnold would say "He'll be back". Arnold is great in this role (one where he doesn't talk too much).

18. Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh: I love the Lethal Weapons. With the brawn and comedy you cannot go wrong. Gibson and Glover are a great team.

17. Oskar Schindler: Powerful movie. A guy that in no way wants to help the Jews, who becomes their only salvation.

16. Austin Powers: Might be one of the best comedies ever done. But you would have to ask my friend Jake Bennett about the final spot for this comedy. Yeah baby yeah.



15. Han Solo/Luke Skywalker: The Star Wars trilogy (now 6-part series) is a classic and has a cult type following. If I were in that group these two would be much higher. I'm not, so they're not. But I am a Harrison Ford fan and he does a great job.

14. Superman: The ultimate Superhero makes the list at number 14. The last Superman movie was good, just not great.

13. Zorro: I love the Zorro movies. Antonio does a great job with this character and Catherine Zeta Jones is great in the movie as well. BTW: I got some "Antonio" colognue for Christmas (it is actually pretty good).

12. General Maximus Decimus Meridius: One of my favorites. Gladiator is a classic movie (with a villain that also made the list). When he avenges his wife/child in the end (and then joins them) it is a great scene.


11. William Wallace: Braveheart is a great movie. Mel Gibson makes the list again (he is on 4 times which is the most of any actor). I could watch this movie once a week. It is very inspirational (even with the awful accent of Gibson). Jamey and I even watched it while we were in Paris.

Villians 29-20

Here is the next part of the villians/heroes series. Let me know if this is worth dragging out or I should just get it over with.

29. Harry Lime and Barry Merchants: The home alone villains are some of my favorite. This movie is a classic and they provide some great scenes. When the guys hair catches fire is still my favorite.


28. Cruella De Ville: The 101 Dalmations would have no arguement here. "If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will".

27. The Shark: In Jaws this is the main character. I know he doesn't act, but he still gave me many-a-nightmares.

26. The Joker: Batman is a great hero (not superhero because of no supernatural powers), and he has his villain.

25. Max Cady: Cape Fear is a great movie. And this villain makes the movie.

24. Scarface: Great movie. Great character. Great acting.


23. Eleanor Islen: Manchurian Candidate is a great movie. What kind of woman would do that to her son?

22. Castor Troy: This character is great because he is played by two actors (John Travolta and Nic Cage) in the same movie. I love the movie face off. And this character under both men is a great villain.


21. Lady Tremaine: The evil stepmother of Cinderella. Didn't you just want to hit her? She also continues are woman villain theme :)

20. Tyler Durden: Fight club is a classic movie. Brad Pitt does an outstanding job in this movie. To be a fictional character in the end, he makes one great villain.

Heroes 29-20

The next part of the heroes...

29. Spiderman: Great character. I'd probably have him higher on the list if the movies did not have the two worst actors ever (Toby Mcguire and Kristen Dumb).

28. Creasy: Man on Fire is another great Denzel movie that is under-rated. Creasy is a great tough guy that falls for a little girl and in the end...well, rent the movie and see.

27. Rudy Ruettiger: Who doesn't at least know of Rudy? Every time some scrub on a team makes something happen you here jokes about Rudy. If he hadn't played for Notre Dame he would move up at least 5 more spots.


26. John Rambo: Sylvester Stallone is one of my favorite actors and he has two on the list. Bet you can guess the other one. But Rambo is another great series.

25. Ethan Hunt: Mission Impossible is a great series of movies. And as much as Tom Cruise is crazy in real life, he is a great actor.

24. Sparticus: Classic movie. Great character. I still remember the pepsi commercial that referenced the movie with the whole "I am Sparticus" scene.

23. Jefferson Smith: I love the older movie "Mr. Smith goes to Washington". Jimmy Stewart is great in this role as a young senator that learns of the corrupt politics in Washington and then defeats it.

22. Detective John Mclain: Die Hard is classic. I am also a huge Bruce Willis fan. His role as this tough guy is great.





21. Daniel Larusso: Jamey's favorite character of her teen years. The Karate Kid is a classic movie and the kick in the end will forever be remembered.


20. Thelma Dickerson and Louise Sawyer: Classic movie again with characters everybody knows.

39-30 Villains

Here are villains 39-30. Let me know what you think.

39. Jack Torrance: The shining. Great villain played by Jack Nickolson.

38. Carl Lee Hailey: Actually I would consider him to be the good character in the film "A time to kill", but he did kill two people. Samuel Jackson does a great job in this movie.

37. Capt. Frank Ramsey: Crimson Tide. This guy does a great job as the officer that is too hard nosed to look at other options. Hackman does another outstanding job. The scenes with him and Denzel are great.



36. Ursula: The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite movies. Ursula is a great villain. "Those poor unfortunate souls..."

* Just a side note here: There seem to be a lot more women in the villains list than the heroes list.

35. Ed Rooney: The principle in Farris Bueller's Day off. Does a good job of being the "villain" in this comedy.

34. Captain Hook: Another Disney character. I love this story and he will always be remembered.

33. John Patrick Mason: The rock. Another villain only in the technical sense. Sean Connery does a great job as a man that comes out of prison to help save the day in The Rock.

32. Col William Tarvington: The Patriot is one of my favorite movies of all time. This character makes one of the best arrogant villains in any movie. After all, he killed a boy. The scene where he is attempting to get Mel Gibson to fight by bragging on the killing of his son is intense.

31. Commodus: The evil Emperor who kills his father and attempts to kill Maximus is a great villain in Gladiator. He can make your skin crawl with the way he acts.

30. Lex Luther: A more famous villain. It would be hard though, to always be against Superman. What kind of chance is that?

Top Heroes/Villains

I have a new list, imagine that. After watching several good movies over the break I got to thinking of all the great characters I have watched.
I am going to unveil my list of top movie villains and heroes in a series of blogs over the next few days/weeks. I have done my ranking of the top 50 heroes and the top 50 villains using several lists (inluding American Film Institute's list. The criterea I went with was movies in the last 100 years that have been somewhat widely viewed. The character must be known (at least by name to the average person over the age of 20. The heroes were easy to pick (although not to rank), but the villains were a different story. Some are people that you actually cheer for, while some you root for their death. Some are funny, and some are pure evil. Either way I enjoyed ranking these characters (with the help of my wife and mother-in-law). Here are numbers 50-40 with heroes first.

Heroes

50. Jason Arnold: The character played on the Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Identity. Great action hero.

49. Lt. Chris Sabian: In the Negotiator. Great movie, great character.

48. Harry Stamper: Bruce Willis character in Armageddon. He does a great job as the tough, but ultimate hero of a father.



47. Dr. Stanley Goodspeed: Played by Nicholas Cage in The Rock. Comedy mixed with a character we can relate to who adapts to his situation.

46. Trip: The character played by Denzel Washington in Glory. One of three Denzel characters to make the list. A great movie that had many heroes to pick from, his role was very memorable.

45. Simon Templar: In the movie The Saint. Jamey and I love the newer version with Val Kilmer in this role. His many costumes/roles are great. The older version, I have heard, is great as well.

44. Doc Holliday: The second Val Kilmer character. This movie is great and the alcoholic gunslinging Doc Holliday is a great movie character.

43. Chon Wang: The only Jakie Chan character to make the list is hillarious in both Shanghi noon and Shanghi nights.

42. Coach Norman Dale: The ultimate coach in the ultimate sports movie. Gene Hackman does a great job in this underdog story.



41. Benjamin Martin: A Mel Gibson character in the Patriot. He does a great job as the father and the soldier.

40. Jack Ryan: Harrison Ford in Patriot games. Great movie. Harrison Ford does a great job.


Villains

50. Shooter McGavin: The crazy golfer in Happy Gilmore. He does a great job of making you hate him.

49. The Clown in IT: This has made my generation fear clowns.

48. Biff Tannen: The Back to the Future Trilogy is one of my favorites. And this character is perfect (all 4 generations of him) as the villain to Michael J. Fox.

47. Jigsaw: In the first two Saw movies. Jamey still has nightmares of this one. He does a great job, and most of his role is just his voice. The situations he puts people in still make me cringe.

46. Rachael Phelps: The owner of the Indians in the great movie Major Leagues. Makes you hate her and root for the bunch of misfits she has put on the field.

45. Jack Sparrow: One of the villains you love. Although I was not as impressed with the second movie, Jonny Depp did an outstanding job with this villain we love.



44. Gaston: The first of a few disney characters to be on this list. He is the Beast hunter in Beauty and the Beast. "No one fights like Gaston..."

43. Chucky: One of my little brothers is still scared of this doll.

42. The Grinch: I know we are all "Christmased out" but this character is a great one. I am not a Jim Carrey fan, but he does a good job with this one.

41. Senator Joseph Paine: The Senator in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". He is a great character that does come around in the end.

40. Dr. Malcolm Crowe: In the sixth sense. Bruce Willis (one of the few to make both lists) does an outstanding job with this character. Even though he is a good character he technically is the villain (he is a ghost).

Well that is the first ten in each list. What do you think? I am going to release 10 more heroes in a few days and then 10 more villains.

Thankful

Top Ten things I am thankful for this morning.

10. Nice smelling candles (I love the smell of a good candle)
9. John Grisham books: I just finished the innocent man (a non-fiction work) and am about to start on the broker. These are the only two that I have not read yet.
8. Hot shower (I think I took about 20 minutes this morning to wake up)
7. Thursday night TV: We are big into: Survivor (I smell a merge), CSI (all of them), and now Shark.
6. Friends we have that are coming over, and those that couldn't make it (we'll see you next time Jon and Stacy).
5. All my teams won last night: I know the Dolphins will probably lose today and make it not so good, but I pull for: Orlando (NBA) who is in first in the East, Air Force (6-1 with one loss to Duke), Florida (#1 in country) and Arizona (beat the mess out of some Birmingham team).
4. Christmas shopping. I know I may be crazy but I love to shop for Christmas presents for everyone.
3. FOOD: I can already smell the meal at 8:00 in the morning. (Stacy: I will miss your sweet potatoes, we'll have to visit Huntsville for some of those, and Jon we'll save some noodles for you).
2. Family in town today, and those we'll see on Christmas.

Top Ten Things I’d Like For Christmas

I am stealing this idea from another blogger. I love Christmas, and need to listen to the music. Yes I listen to Christmas music and am proud of it. Since you know how much I love lists, here goes…

This list is a dream list for me. If I could pick out ten things, no matter the cost or actual chance of them happening, here they are.

10. As good a time as possible in Colorado/Texas over the break: I am sure this will happen. Our parents bought us the tickets to come and see the families. I would like snow in Colorado and maybe a little in Texas as well.

9. A Gator Hat. Jamey got me the best Gator hat last X-mas and I managed to lose it in the move. Fitted hats are the best. In case anyone wants to know I where a size 7 ¼.

8. Subscription to Dolphin Digest: This is a must for any die-hard fan. It has articles throughout the year that no one except Dolphin fans will appreciate. I had this one time when I was little and loved reading about my team over and over. Now… if only they could win some games this year.

7. A Dolphin Christmas/New Years win. I want the Phins to be in position at 7-7 this late in the season and beat the Jets on X-mas (taking them out of the playoffs and putting us in position to grab a bid late). Then proceed to beat the 15-0 Colts to keep Miami’s ’72 team as the only undefeated team in history and securing our birth to the playoffs. While I’m at it, why don’t we just win the rest of the games to go to the super bowl.

6. NFL Sunday Ticket: I’d love to be able to watch the games I want to see on Sunday. This week I got to watch a thrilling Falcons vs. Browns game, while last week it was the Titans getting crushed by someone.


5. Sirius radio: Or whatever radio gets all the NFL games. This is my back-up to NFL Ticket, and it would be good to have all the stations for music for my dancing machine of a daughter. She has moves I have never even seen…

4. Music: I love my Christian music. And this year there are many great artists out there. Hopefully I’ll get my annual Wow CD from Jamey. I think I would actually like a Christina Aguilara CD (I can’t believe I just said that). And there are many other Christian artists I’d love to hear more from.

3. TIVO: I have heard great things about this. But I probably watch too much TV as it is. It would be nice to be able to record shows without having to use all the old VHS to keep everything on.

2. Tickets to watch the Gators win the National Title game. I know they have to beat a few teams first and hope USC loses, but I’d love to get to watch live as they “Tebow” their way over OSU or Michigan and prove all the critics wrong about Meyer’s offense.

1. My wife and daughter’s happiness. I hope both of them have a great X-mas.

I am sure there are more things I could list (A new car/house, etc…) but this is just a list I thought would be fun to make.

Top Ten College Games Remaining

With UF going to Auburn this week it got me to thinking of what were the top games left this season. As many of you know I love top ten lists, so here are my top 10 college games left this season. Obviously it does not include championship games or bowl games, these are games that are already scheduled.


10. Tennessee vs Arkansas: This game will determine alot about both teams. If Arkansas can pull the win off I see them as no worse than in first in the West of the SEC. If Tennessee wins they stay in the shadows of FLA in the East and help out Auburn's hopes of playing in the SEC championship.

9. USC vs. Cal: Proabably for the Pac 10 championship. Every team not in the Pac 10 will be pulling for Cal to upset the Trojans and keep them out of the championship game for the 3rd straight year.

8. Nebraska vs. Missouri: Normally the North of the Big 12 is a joke. Not so this year with Nebraska at 5-1 and Missouri at 6-0. The winner here gets their shot at Texas and a BCS bowl game.


7. FLA vs FSU: I know FSU is not looking good. But if FLA manages to get through the rough part of the schedule unscathed, look out for the Noles. This could be FLA's fall game before the SEC championship game.

6. Clemson vs GTech: The winner here is my pick to have a great shot at a BCS. GTech has only one loss (to Notre Dame) and Clemson is as dangerous as anyone in the country right now.

5. Arkansas vs LSU: This game will be huge for the hogs if they want to have a shot at a BCS game. Same for any chances of LSU.

4. Notre Dame vs. USC: This is big for the bowls. If ND wins, pencil them into a big game. If USC wins and takes the Pac 10...sadly I think they go to the BCS regaurdless of what FLA can do.

3. Florida vs Auburn: If FLA wins 2 things happen. 1) Arkansas is in the championship game in the west. 2) FLA will go into FSU undefeated. If Auburn wins, the conference is up for grabs on both sides.

2. West Virginia vs Louisville: The winner of this is in a BCS bowl game, and has a chance to play in the Championship game if things go their way. I like WVU and Louisville against any other team in the country and would love to see one of them win it all.

1. Ohio State vs. Michigan: Talk about huge. This will be for a birth in the Championship game assuming both can do what they need to leading up to this point.

Top Christian Groups

I love Christian music. Ask Jamey, I own every wow that has been put out and will ask for Wow 2007 this year for Christmas. I love older artists, I love the newer artists. Here are my top 10 favorite. And my bottom groups.

10. Salvador: Not a very well known group. But I heard a few of their songs on WOW and bought a CD. I love almost every song.

9. Acappella and AVB: This shows my church of Christ roots. I grew up with these groups and still enjoy their music. Unfortunately I have lost many of my CD’s/Tapes of these two groups. So if anyone has a copy I’d like to copy it (I’ll pay for any expenses, you can’t even buy many of the albums anymore).

8. David Crowder: Very good music. Great to worship with in the car. Has a very distinct voice that is really not my favorite, but I love his passion and lyrics. I think he will also move up the more music he puts out.

7. Mercy Me: Love their albums. I will move them up as they stay around. They have a cross over hit with “I can only imagine”, but have many more songs that are just as good if not better. The lead singer has a very distinctive voice that I enjoy. Their lyrics are very deep as well.

6. Jars of Clay: The song “worlds apart” is an all-time favorite of mine. But “Flood” is another that topped the charts for awhile. Also have many others. The newer albums are decent, but not like those first ones.

5. Jeremy Camp: A newer artist. I don’t even own a CD of his, but love his music on the Christian radio.

4. Michael W. Smith: The legend. He has been there from the beginning. From “Go west young man” to his newest albums he has songs that will be forever remembered. I prefer his worship albums, but many of his older ones are also very good. “Friends” will always be a big hit in the Simpson family.

3. DC Talk: Many top albums. I personally love all from the old school raps to the newer alternative style. Their lyrics have inspired me since I was young.

2. Third Day: This group has burst onto the scene in the last 5 years (for me). I own many of their earlier albums and love their live stuff. Mac Powell (I think that is the name of the lead) has a great voice. I love the message of many of the hits, but the band is very skilled as well.

1. Steven Curtis Chapman: My all-time favorite. I own about every album he has put out. Have listened to him since he first got started and continue to buy his albums. His recent releases continue to inspire. I love his voice, but more importantly his message. BTW: Has any song been played in weddings more than “I will be here”.


THE BOTTOM FIVE
5. Petra: Christian rock is hard enough to get behind. Christian 80’s rock is way harder. This is like listening to the big bands of the 80’s singing Christian music.

4. Geoff Moore: Has good lyrics and is probably a really good guy. His music is just awful. “Homerun” is terrible.

3. Amy Grant: Had two or three good songs. “Baby, baby” is not one of them. Her personal life puts her here. (Others that were good, but had personal issues: Michael English). Not saying she cannot be forgiven, it just makes it hard for me to buy her Cd’s.

2. 4 Him: The backstreet boys of Christian music. Had one good song on a Wow CD awhile back, but the rest was awful.

1. Point of Grace: They have about as much depth as a Frisbee in their music. And the all girl group is not even that good of singers.

Top Ten Christian Movies

Next List. This time the top 10 Christian Movies. The criteria is that I have to have seen the movie.

10. Martin Luther: The 1950's version.

9. Prince of Egypt: Has a few "movie liberties" taken. But is a very well done movie.

8. Jonah: Veggietales special.

7. Luther: Very good movie about the Reformation.

6. The Ten Commandments: Oldie but a goodie.

5. Ben-Hur: Not completely on Christianity, but has several good scenes and gives context.

4. JESUS: Another portrayal of the life of Christ.

3. The Chronicals of Narnia: The books are better than the movie. But its points are very clear.

2. Gospel of John: Very well done version taken directly from the book of John.

1. The Passion of the Christ: Very intense movie that is a must see at least once, and probably should be seen more than that, for Christians.
