I'm Hijacking Again

For those who may not know, Kenny and his team had a great win last Friday against Luverne! Go Eagles!

It Has Begun

I, Jamey, hereby hijack this blog so that people who do sometimes check Kenny's blog will not give up on him!

Let me begin by saying Kenny has been extremely busy, but has found time to spend with his kiddos and me. I hope he knows we appreciate that.

I thought I would add some pictures from their jamboree Friday night. They played at home, and I got goosebumps when he took the field with his team for the first time as a head coach. I know he would have more to say regarding details of the plays, athletes, and overall outcome, but I'll leave that for him to add later.

In layman's (aka Jamey's) terms: they WON! Go Eagles!

Topics for the political campaign

What are the major issues that will decide this years president? Here are a few that may be issues that need some discussion.

1) War in Iraq: In my opinion if McCain has any chance this must turn around quickly. I think it will be the #1 issue brought up by the "unbiased" media.

2) Money issues: This would include gas prices, food prices and even go into universal health care. I think this is the most important issue, and may decide many people's vote.

3) Immigration: Not sure this will get the air time it deserves, but could swing several of the western states.

4) Abortion: Not going to get the press it needs, and not sure McCain is strong enough against abortion for him to win the conservative vote anyway, although Obama is extremely pro-choice and that could scare some voters.

5) Experience: Don't think this hurt Obama very much, but may in older voters mind.

6) Race: How does the fact that Obama is black impact the vote. I think it works for and against him more than people want to admit.

All in all I think it is Obama's race to lose. As long as he doesn't do anything stupid between now and the election and the war in Iraq doesn't turn around he wins. I would agree with some (James) that say Obama is the media darling (much like the first black president...Bill Clinton :). What do you think? What issues do you care about? What will people care about? Who wins and why?

Whats going on at the Simpsons?

Been a little busy lately. We just got back from our trip which Jamey wrote about. It was a great trip to Disney to see family.

Jamey and the kids then went to Texas to be with her family. Her grandmother is doing better now, but we weren't sure how she would do. So I was a bachelor for a week.

During that week I went to football camp at Troy State University. It was a good camp and our team was exhausted.

Football has been meeting at 6:00 and getting over around 9:30 each day. Our team is slowly improving and hopefully the long hours will pay off this year.

Jamey is working our church's Vbs this week so Avery has really been enjoying going to Vbs.

Don't watch alot of baseball, but the Marlins have a chance this year if they can keep it together. Jamey and I are also very excited about the olympics.

Hope everyone else is having a good summer like the Simpsons.

Quick post

Just a quick post to say I do plan on posting as soon as we get back from Florida and the weeks vacation with my family to Disney and the beach. Been a little busy lately:

We finished up track season: girls were 5th at state, boys were 7th (best we've ever finished).

Turned right around and did spring football. We look improved from last season with several new players/coaches, but you really can't tell until you are playing someone else.

School is over now so I am gearing up for football. For those interested we have a jamboree August 22nd and open at home August 29th this season. We are picked to finish 7th in the region (out of 8). Hopefully we can prove some people wrong.

If you haven't check Jamey's blog she has some pictures of the kids. Braden is now over 20lbs and is growing by the minute. He can sit up and roll and grab everything. The best news...he is a daddy's boy as of now. Avery is 3 now. She is very smart and fun to be with.

Jamey and I will celebrate 7 years together on June 2nd. Fittingly we will both be working with our teams during the day.

Thanks to anyone still looking at this blog!

Walmart

I have always loved Walmart. Since working there in college to spending at least 1/5 of my income on buying good cheap products. I thought this was a good article on Walmart's support of Hurricane Katrina. I know that some of this was for public relations, but it was more than many other groups did.

Politics

The more I watch American politics the more I ask, how much should I get involved? I am convinced now that I will never enter into politics, but think the Christian voice needs to be heard. Just not sure how to go about that the most effective way. But I did think this was a neat quote I found on Roxy's blog.

"Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber."

When I get little

Avery has had several milestones in the last couple of weeks. She is now potty-trained. She has given up her "paci". I have been the one to put her to bed, it is a good time to spend time with her and she is able to catch me up on what she did that day. The first night I put her to bed without her pacifier was a little rough. When she finally calmed down she said "when I get little again I can have my paci". I kind of brushed it off and moved on. The last few nights she had been saying that several times and I said "Avery, you will never get little again. You are going to keep on getting bigger".

She responded the other night by saying "that makes me sad". The more I think about her never getting little again it makes me kind of sad too.

Obama

Does his minister hurt him bad in this election? How is he handling the "race" issue? What do you think of his minister, another Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton?

Politics con't

Since we had such a good amount of discussion, which has remained very civil. I thought instead of another comment I'd do another blog, so here it is...

Jason I would agree that Israel is a theocracy not a democracy and there was/is quite a difference. However, I think we need a type of safety net welfare system. Teaching economics I have done some (not alot) of research as to where our tax money goes. Here are some stats: Which may or may not be made up :)

1) Since 1950 we have spent less than half (percentage wise) on military/police/fire

2) Since 1950 we have remained the same in most other areas with two major exceptions....

3) We now spend 4 times as much (again this is percentage wise) in expenses for the poor.

4) We also now spend 4 times as much on paying off interest from the incredible amount of debt from the government. Which leads me to say:

Why trust the government to "fix" the healthcare problem??

Politics

Sorry for such a long time between blogs. Family is doing well, check Jamey's blog to read more.

Thought I'd throw out a few items to discuss for anyone that still reads my frequently updated blog.

What do you think about universal health care?

War in Iraq?

Who do you want to win election? Who do you think will win?

That's what I'm talkin about. About time the cheaters got what was coming to them. Loved how Belly ran off the field not watching the last second. Now the '72 Dolphins can open that champagne...
