Whats going on at the Simpsons?

Been a little busy lately. We just got back from our trip which Jamey wrote about. It was a great trip to Disney to see family.

Jamey and the kids then went to Texas to be with her family. Her grandmother is doing better now, but we weren't sure how she would do. So I was a bachelor for a week.

During that week I went to football camp at Troy State University. It was a good camp and our team was exhausted.

Football has been meeting at 6:00 and getting over around 9:30 each day. Our team is slowly improving and hopefully the long hours will pay off this year.

Jamey is working our church's Vbs this week so Avery has really been enjoying going to Vbs.

Don't watch alot of baseball, but the Marlins have a chance this year if they can keep it together. Jamey and I are also very excited about the olympics.

Quick post

Just a quick post to say I do plan on posting as soon as we get back from Florida and the weeks vacation with my family to Disney and the beach. Been a little busy lately:

We finished up track season: girls were 5th at state, boys were 7th (best we've ever finished).

Turned right around and did spring football. We look improved from last season with several new players/coaches, but you really can't tell until you are playing someone else.

School is over now so I am gearing up for football. For those interested we have a jamboree August 22nd and open at home August 29th this season. We are picked to finish 7th in the region (out of 8). Hopefully we can prove some people wrong.

If you haven't check Jamey's blog she has some pictures of the kids. Braden is now over 20lbs and is growing by the minute. He can sit up and roll and grab everything. The best news...he is a daddy's boy as of now. Avery is 3 now. She is very smart and fun to be with.

Jamey and I will celebrate 7 years together on June 2nd. Fittingly we will both be working with our teams during the day.

Birthday surprise

My wife surprised me at chuch last night with a birthday party. I really did not see it coming, and it was a nice surprise. Now if I could just get that year of my life back...

Back...

I'm back. After 2 very full weeks at the Simpson's house I now have 2 more weeks to get ready for football to be going full speed (and school in 3 weeks). A quick recap:

The week of the 4th Jamey's parents came into town and we had a good time seeing them for the first time since Christmas. Her dad and I were able to get a lot done around the house (with some help from Dawn and Chris Howell who helped paint and were great to help with Avery as well). We now are almost completely moved in, only the guest room, laundry room and baby's room to go. Jamey is getting them done at a good pace, so I think by the end of this week we'll be all set.

The next week Jamey, Avery and I headed to Huntsville for the all-star sports week. We had a good time and were able to spend alot of time with Jon and Stacy, and some time with Jason and Sunny Bybee. It was good to visit Mayfair, but we are glad to be back in Montgomery.

I enjoyed my two "off" weeks, but feel like I need more rest...

I see New England upsetting the Jets in the first round and Baltimore winning against the Bengals. The second round I have San Diego getting some revenge on New England and Indianapolis beating the Ravens.

In Random news I ran into one of the people that read my blog. JRB who teaches law at Faulkner and I met at a yard sale in Montgomery. It is neat to meet someone you feel like you already know.

Not everybody is this lucky. These are my two beatiful girls that I have been able to spend alot more time with.

Vacation to Stone Mountain

I know Jamey will post a lot more on this later, but thought I'd let everyone know we are back from Stone Mountain, Ga. It was a great trip. I haven't been able to spend much time with Avery to watch all the new tricks she can do.

She can now sing (mimic whatever I am singing). She can open the fridge and get her own drink, and occasionally shut the door back. She can speak very well now in sentences (she has stopped using the 3rd person vocabulary she had for awhile). She can recongnize Applebees and other landmarks the Simpson's frequent. She can swim, with floaties, by herself and she doesn't want any help from Daddy.

Now to the trip. We started by going to a farmyard (plastic) which Avery had fun at, but was not a fan of the very loud noises. Next we ventured to the 4D movie theater, which did warn of animals coming off the screen. We went anyway and Avery was doing fine until a snake came at you and hissed. She now has a fear of snakes (even though we convinced her it was just "kissing" her). Next was lunch and then on to the train. Avery loves riding on trains and it was fun. Then we went to the sky lift. Jamey and Avery enjoyed this and I did once we were off the lift.

We saved the part where Avery could pet the animals to this point, as she was beginning to show signs of someone who had not had her nap. She loved petting the goats and sheep and we could have stayed there all day. But on to the Riverboat we went. Avery liked the paddle boats, was not too big a fan of the river boat, but loved feeding the ducks. For all the money we spent we could have saved it all and given her duck food and she would have been happy.

We did go back to watch the fireworks that night and after Avery was convinced no snake was going to come of the lazer show she enjoyed it.

I know I had a great time and I am sure Jamey will post some pictures later...

Update on life of the Simpson's

Well I can almost relax. Our football game went well, we won the JV game 7-0 and lost the Varsity 14-7. We fumbled twice inside the 5 yard-line, the last with 40 seconds left in a close game against a 6A school in Tuscaloosa. I was happy with the defense. We allowed 2 scores, but also forced 3 turnovers and held our own against a team with two division 1 prospects.

The next day we had our track party. I am sure Jamey http://www.jameysimpson.blogspot.com will post on this later with pictures of Avery jumping into the pool. She even liked the divingboard at the Young's house.

Mother's Day went well for the most part. Avery gave her mother her gift in the morning and we went out for lunch to celebrate. We wanted Olive Garden, but there was a 40 minute wait, so we chose Shoney's. I think Jamey enjoyed it and I promised to take her to Olive Garden some night later on, so if anyone wants to babysit...
I called my mom, but couldn't get her on the phone, so "mom happy mother's day" if you didn't get my message.

We should be able to slow down a little now. The past three weekends I have been to Mobile, Gulf Shores, and Tuscaloosa with coaching, I am ready to have date night with my girls this friday and Avery's birthday party this weekend.

Happy Mother's Day (Early)

Happy Mother's Day to two of my special women (Avery is number three).

I would have been lost without Jamey these past years. She is the heart of our family of 3, soon to be 4. Having a wife that takes on so much is a great blessing for me. Not only that, but she is hot!!!

While she a great wife, she also has the best instincts of as a mother for our little one. Avery is lucky to have a mother like you.

I could not have asked for a better person to get to spend the rest of my life with. I know that the years we, Lord willing, have left will be a blessing to me and I thank God every day that you allowed me to con you into marriage to someone like me.

Happy mother's day to my mom. If not for you I don't know who I would have become today. Your gentle (and at times firm) hands raised me to know what I should and shouldn't do and be able to stand for what is right. Raising 5 kids is not an easy task and you do it with grace. I love you.

Random thoughts

I am about to get into "super-busy right before school lets out" mode. But thought I'd try to post before I got too swamped.

My prayers as well as millions of others are with Virginia Tech. I'd like to think we could put aside politics at a time like this but not Rosie "why am still on public TV when Don Imus is fired" O'Donnell says its George Bush's fault because of allowing guns into the public. Come on now, somebody fire her...

Hope the Dolphins do well in the draft, cause it ain't looking good so far for next season. Real glad we gave up that home game to play in London...

Who's off American Idol? My pick is Phil Stacey is gone, Chris will be in the bottom three as well as one of the Divas. Please veto America's vote and get rid of Sanjaya. He sounded like a terrible 13 year old girl last night.

24: Will Jack get Audrey back? Will the president wake up?

DRIVE: Jamey and I tryed it the other night and it is a pretty good show. Not that we need more TV to watch.

Survivor: Who will win? I have enjoyed the season, with different twists. I love the old guy, but think he will be ousted near the end.

My Orlando Magic have earned the right to get swept by Detroit in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Way to go Magic.

Jamey and I are looking for a house now. There are a few (one especially) fixer-uppers that we have our eye on. And both have a POOL!! I hope it will work out for us to get one.

If I don't kill any 8th graders in the next few weeks. I will enjoy track season (hopefully) as it comes to a close and spring football as it gets started.

DOMINATION

As many of you know my wife and I are the track coaches at Alabama Christian Academy. We took over a program that had a few good athletes, but not much as a team. This year in the halls we have spent recruiting the best athletes to come out and run for us. We have had 3 meets now and are starting to hit stride.


Yesterday was the most recent meet we have had. We easily won JH boys, JH girls, SH girls and SH boys mostly because of our numbers (we have about 3 times as many people as the next closest teams). But we had several kids actually lower their times in the mile 20 seconds or more. For those non-runners that is an amazing feat to accomplish. We also had an 8th grader win the 800 meters by 25 seconds over everyone else.

Jamey's girls are starting to show they will also be a force at the state meet. She has one that has a legit shot at winning state in 4 (really 5, but we are only allowed to run them in 4) events. She also has several girls that are becoming close to marks needed to go to state.

The best news...Jamey has no seniors and I only have 1.

Reason to love my wife

As if being beautiful were not enough, Jamey always finds ways to make me happy. Today for my birthday instead of eating a $1 mexican frozen meal, Jamey went to Popey's to pick me up lunch.

For rich or poor...

Often times Jamey and I joke about how she "married me for the money". We see others who have very nice homes/cars and at times have almost a feeling of jealousy. Which is sad, because we both knew making a commitment to a one-income family would be tough, but we feel worth the price as Jamey is with Avery every minute of the day.
I was searching through some blogs and came to Mark Elrod's blog and read about a link he had to see where you stand in relation to the rest of the world. Here is the list. How do you feel now?

Workin' at the Carwash and the rest of the weekend

This weekend was a busy one for the Simpson's. First on Friday night we went to "game night" at the Mills. After throughly dominating the game "25 Words or less", I did not do so well with Catchphrase (which in my opinion requires absolutely no skill).

Next came the Carwash on Saturday. We had set a goal of $1000 for the day. I thought that would be a bit optimistic. So my goal was $500 or more. After several hundred cars on a balmy 40 degree day, we made $1400. We will now hopefully not have to do another fundraiser for this season. I also have a nice sunburn from this experience. That night we had Chris and Dawn over and Griffin.

Sunday was nice as we watched the Colts beat the Bears in a predictable victory. I actually was pulling for the Bears, but did not mind seeing the Colts get a deserved Super Bowl ring.

Go Gators

This past weekend Jamey and I were able to attend a Florida (#1 in the nation) basketball game with our friends Dawn and Chris. We had a great time as you can see from the pictures. Florida made its statement with a lead from wire-to-wire against a surprisingly solid Auburn team. That makes Jamey 3-3 in games we have gone to where our team has won. So if any of you want to insure a win you can give us a call.

NEW BUISNESS

Jamey and her friend Ashley are starting a new buisness. It is called "Paintdrops and Lollipops". They will be making children items for reasonable prices. So...if you love your kids at all buy them some of their items :)

Been robbed recently...

We have. Last night Jamey and I came home to find stuff on the floor in our entryway to the house. We (or I) looked through the house to make sure the person had left. He/They had, so we looked to find that only a few of Jamey's rings had been taken. I am sure the person will be very pleased when they realize that we shop at Walmart and the ones they took were fake. After we calmed down (thanks Dawn and Chris for coming over) we managed to get some sleep. This morning though I realized they had taken my laptop (or ACA's laptop). So I went ahead and filed a police report to hopefully have insurance from the school cover our loss.

I am normally a very laid back person, but I am glad I did not find someone still at our house.

Thanks for coming by and taking what is not yours. Thanks for making my wife feel unsafe in her own home. Thanks for taking about 1/2 a year of work on my computer. Hope you make your quick $500 and can smoke out for a few days. If you are a real man you know where I live, come by when I am home!!

Sorry for the rant. I know we were blessed to have not had more taken, or anyone (Curtis) injured, but man that upsets me.
