Should he be put to death?

I think so. Here is a story on the death of Sadame Hussain. This is being carried out by the Iraq court systems. What do you think?

I'm more anxious to see what will happen if they do. Clearly there will be some retaliation. How much, on what scale, is the question, I guess. I think towards whom is less of a question.

I read that the hanging is to take place within 48 hours. They don't mess around in Iraq.

He's clearly guilty of crimes against humanity. But I'm like Greg...I'm curious to see what the retaliation will be, if any.

Greg: Not sure how they will react.

Roxy: That is funny

JasonK: Heard it will take place before New Years.

So is everyone for putting him to death for his crimes? I am, but am surprised if everyone else is.

I'm trying hard to flesh out a consistent ethic of human life in my mind. Thus, I'm undecided on the death penalty. I'm just not convinced that Jesus would ever advocate the death of another person, and He's my litmus test for everything.

I probably find a little more validity in the just war theory than some do, though. That said, if I were a proponent of the death penalty, I think you could make a compelling case for Sadaam being "worthy" of death.

Justin: Correct that Christ does not ever kill anyone in the bible. Several "men of God" do however.

Jason: I'd say he is worthy of the penalty as well.
