Elections

What does everyone think of the Dems gaining control in the Senate and the House? Will we have bi-partisanship going on? Or will it be more of "we don't really have a plan, but whatever Bush comes up with we'll just bash" from the democrats?
I actually am very interested in what we will do in Iraq now. Will we attempt to finish what has been started? Or will we pull out now and leave them to fend for themselves?
What other bills will get started? Gay marriage as a nation? What does everyone think???

Well America complained and whined so now we will get to see this almighty "plan" the dems have. Gay marriage won't pass, there are too many states banning it themselves. One thing I do see is that the amnesty bill for illegals will probably resurface and Bush is a big enough moron to pass it and ruin this country even more.

I think that with the Dems controlling both houses that at least 2 judges on the supreme court will retire and they will try to get 2 libs put back on it. But everyone is throwing this big hissy fit over the dems controlling the houses but Bush still have veto power and they senate needs 2/3 to overturn that which they won't get because they have control only by 1 seat which really isn't control because they are counting on Liberman to vote with them, which he hasn't been doing.

I think this is a good wakeup call to reps to get their heads out of the sand and end this war in Iraq and focus on our own country.

Besides when we see what a moonbat Pelosi really is this will only hurt the dems 08 hopes...

whew there you go...

I think that this election was really nothing about change, or how the dems are going to making this nation better. Even though Bush was not on the ticket, in actuality he was. It was all about him, and how the Congress was going to control him. I am looking forward to see what this "plan" is all about. I listened and looked at a lot of things that was going on with this election. I never heard what they really were going to do with the agenda they have put forth, except to win control of Congress.

If I were Bush, I would make the Dems that control Congress to look stupid. If they want all the power, Bush should tell them to give him the plan. But wait, they really do not have a plan. I just hope that we do not turn and run in Iraq, but the policy needs to change, but what can change?

Do not even get me started on Pelosi. If they raise wage rates,t hat is going to cause all kinds of problems.

We will see if the Dems live up to their expectations.

Yep, the illegals are making it better that's why my insurance premuims go up every year cause I have to pay for some knocked up mexican to drag her butt over here have a kid and I have to pay for it. America is so much better off, and wages. Ridiculous, hurts our economy. Get rid of minimum wage and let the capitalist system work.

I'll bet you wouldn't say that if you made minimum wage.

As for Health care. I do think we need to have more insured. But how? There are many now that work legally and cannot afford coverage, which inturn raises prices so many others cannot afford it.

Surprisingly, I side with the left on the issue of immigration. I feel they are going to come, so we might as well attempt to make it easier to have a legal count and give them a chance. I genuinely feel for the illegal immigrants. I'd take them over people that will not work and are collecting welfare anyday.

But I also agree with Jon to a point on minimum wage. I would leave minimum wage where it is and put welfare money to people that are working a steady job that cannot pay the bills instead of those too lazy to get a job at a minimum salary.

Keep the comments coming, I enjoy hearing many different points of view.

The problem with minimum wage is it gives companies a minimum wage to pay. I should pay you 7.50 but legally I only have to pay you 5.15/hr. If you got rid of that minimum companies would be forced to pay market rate, why would you take a job at 5.15/hr one place when another place is offering 7.50 for the same job. No min. wage would increase competiton. Increase wages, increase taxes they pay, increase money they spend to buy products, increase revenue....etc

I know, man. I'm just saying it's easy for us to sit here and discuss min. wage in the abstract. I'll bet someone who lives it would have a different perspective. I wasn't trying to come across like a punk in my earlier comment.

not taking it as a punk just clarifying my post, forgot to add it earlier.

yes to discuss it abstract is easy just like scott's blog on NV. But to those who discuss things abstractly I would ask if they go down to their inner city and work with the those we are called to work with. People will shell out $1,200 to fly 2000 miles to BAJA but won't spend $2.11 for a gallon of gas to drive to the inner city?

Jon: agree with last statement. I know that we are to take the gospel to the far ends of the earth. But wonder how many would go to the gulf coast or to inner city than travel to some exotic place.

As to minimum wage...Not sure wages would go up. We have plenty of illegals now making much less than minimum wage.

Federal Mimimum Wage is a communist idea in a Capitalist society. . . . Do we believe in the market or not?

MamaKat - who has worked for minimum wage and has children working for it now.

Some prudent and some not; agreed. But is minimum wage prudent? I think not. Kat

I'm not sure where I stand on min. wage. I think in theory it would be nice to not have it, but the practical side of me says we need to have a minimum safe-net.
